sounding workshop with compositions & guidance by saadet türköz
23.06.2024

Description

saadet türköz’s workshop is about vocal interaction between the participants: she speaks a language that has no comprehensible, clear content. this meaninglessness has a physical form that transforms into a shape. it is a kind of narrative whose action becomes a joyful, thought-provoking experience through spontaneous reaction and action.

sébastien pittet, double bass, sets the thoughts and dreams of saadet türköz into music. in her basic idea lie short texts or a word that leads one into a depth of the world of sound, into an infinity. one loses oneself in an unknown, insecure, uncomfortable zone, sometimes in paradise. but she loves that you return to the real world.

making music and creating a composition in the spiritual is what makes it incomplete. the way life happens, no beginning, no end - she imagines the whole as an abstraction of the concrete. the interpreter sébastien pittet plays his sensibility.

BIO

Born in Istanbul, Saadet Türköz is a singer, improviser and vocal artist. She has been living in Switzerland for over 40 years and is one of the most prominent figures on the independent music scene in Zurich. She was awarded with the Swiss Music Award 2023 where the Jury honored Saadet for her many years of work as one of the formative artists for the Swiss independent music scene. In her my improvisations as well as performances of Kazakh and Turkish songs she is looking to transform memory. She seeks to evoke pictures and atmosphere by means of voice and music which transcend cultural boundaries. Memory is everywhere and every time the same – not changeable – but the expression is different: Individual perception develops a universal impression of the cultural life. Sébastien Pittet in 2021 released his first solo bass album entitled WANU / Nachalo (Altrisuoni). He concentrate on creating his own music and explore improvisation in collaboration with other artistic disciplines such as dance and drawing. What’s important to him is diversity and the constant desire to learn new things. This has led him to develop my activities as a musician, composer, teacher and promoter of artistic projects with the aim of sharing my passion with those around him. Coming from a family of non-musicians, he was initially attracted to drawing, an art form in which he naturally blossomed. But it was finally at the age of 15, when he started playing electric bass in a band formed his friends, that his passion for music took hold. This step opened the door to a world he was to learn the basics of over many years in Switzerland and Canada.
